Pros

The team is small, so everyone knows each other and is friends. Great senses of humor on the team. Everyone is very motivated and talented. Office culture is laid back, no one is micro-managing, just get the job done and enjoy doing it.

Cons

Trying to be as lean as possible with headcount means staff members always have twice as much to do than there are hours in the day. Must have a start-up mentality and work ethic to survive here. Not much lateral mobility within company. Once you're in, just wait for the company to grow under you.

Pros

I have a fairly broad background in terms of work environments. I have spent several years in high performance, high talent consulting environments, such as McKinsey and Bain. I also worked for purely mission driven organizations, both in the US and abroad. Cotopaxi is a truly unique blend of the two! The team and management consists of highly talented, yet silent overachievers, i.e., everybody is incredibly good at what they do... yet nobody takes themselves too seriously. The company has an explicit 'no-jerk' policy and it acts on it! At the same time, Cotopaxi's mission to sustainably alleviate poverty and mobilize and inspire others materializes in a very tangible way every day. That's what makes me get up every morning: amazing colleagues who are dedicated to my growth and a genuinely purpose-driven organization!

Cons

It is an early stage startup, well funded... but still, everything is in flux. For somebody who needs 100% clear structure, this might not yet be the place to be.

Wonderful people, great atmosphere, 10% in-the-wild time, great benefits, and a mission that really matters.

Cons

Because Cotopaxi is a startup, there are long hours, but the rewards are fantastic.
