Pros

Met a lot of great, wonderful people. Gave me the skills I needed for my dream job. Flexible hours/work structure

Cons

Management - this cannot be stressed enough. When managers are hired, it should be because they have the appropriate experience and skill set to make a difference and lead a team. Hiring people for their personality alone does not lead to happy, engaged employees. Compensation- it is low; cannot sustain a family on this compensation. If you have experience in the role you are in, you should be compensated fairly - there is no excuse otherwise. It boils down to appreciation. Being unjustly compensated is 1) not going to create happy employees 2) force GREAT employees to look elsewhere. Hiring in general - whether its improper vetting procedures or general oversight, people need to be hired with the correct credentials. I understand that some job functions are taught, but bringing in someone that "has a different perspective" or someone that can "turn the team around" just means chaos and more headaches and confusion. A more watchful eye and immediate action (if problems arise) would greatly help this.

Hi, this is Marissa Geist, Managing Director for the Americas. You're right that our people are what make Cielo great, and it's upsetting to me that you feel as though the feedback you gave was not received or acted upon during your time here. Also, we know pay is a critical consideration for joining and staying with a company and we work to be as competitive as possible in our total rewards. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your personal situation to better understand how we can improve going forward. Please contact me any time at marissa.geist@cielotalent.com.

Brand and Social team is managed like an Old Boys Club

Pros

Offers ability to work from home/remotely

Cons

As a seasoned professional I have seen my share of challenging and difficult work environments. And I knew going in that working at an RPO would be tough. But never have I come across as toxic and unprofessional work environment as Cielo. Every day begins with an inbox full of "where's this?" and "why didn't you?" snarky messages that come from an earlier (UK) time zone so your day begins with a verbal flogging. You learn quickly that the group leader does not have your back and is more than willing to sacrifice you and your team. Team members were sworn at (verbally and in email), publicly humiliated, and I don’t say this lightly, mentally abused. The US team is often pitted against the UK team and there’s a constant ‘Us against Them’ vibe which permeates all team interactions. As stated in other reviews, all of these concerns were repeatedly brought to HR and nothing was done. The team often discusses why HR will not address the individual at the root of these issues after so many of us have voiced our concerns. For a company that has very smart women in its top ranks I can’t help wonder why the brand and social team is allowed to be run like an old boys club?

Senior Recruiter

Business Outlook

Pros

Working remote. Some outstanding managers at the Client Services Manager & Client Services Director level. Recruit University is a good training program to become a Recruiter. No glass ceiling for women. A good step on your career.

Cons

Poor work / life balance - depends on your boss / your account but the overall company culture pushes 24/7 work. They have forgotten the basics of how to treat employees - the bottom line comes first. Veteran recruiters are leaving or being forced out because they are too expensive. Have recently lost several accounts including a huge nationwide health system. Too much internal mobility - unqualified individuals have been promoted to leadership and in some cases Director and VP roles in a short time period without the skills or experience to do the job. They are bleeding talent. Not a place to stay long term. If your client contract ends you are laid off - no severance. No equity - two recruiters with the same skills / background / niche can make very different incomes.
