Pros

Good work/life balance, can be compensated well in sales. Good working relationships with peers in some departments. Long history of successful brands keeps the corporation moving in a slow growing pattern with very little debt on the books. Flexible working hours at the corporate level.

Cons

Personnel at the corporate level is a mess. Worked at this company for over 10 years. Recent hires in the middle management level and above have turned this once proud company into a clown show. Absolute nepotism takes place here and not even the legal department or Human Resources cares. You will be retaliated against if you speak out against management. If you are older in age, fat, a woman, in a racial minority, or gay getting a settlement is easy because of the discriminatory environment at the corporate level. Abuse of corporate spend policy is rampant and no on is disciplined for those violations.

Pros

It is good to meet people from different places and learn about different companies that they work for. It's also good when you have guest who are nice and talk to you during your shift. Employee discounts are very helpful when traveling because it helps to save a lot of money.

Cons

There is really nothing to earn while working. It's hard to get a raise, you do not earn paid time off, and you do not get any benefits. In order to book a room under your employee discount, you have to have your manager send you a link through e-mail, and sometimes they act like you're being bothersome when you ask. At my hotel, there is so much negativity and it an be a very hostile environment. Whereas it used to be a fun place to work, everyone seems to stressed and unhappy for a low paying job. There isn't a lot of praise, although guest write nice reviews online, however, when there is one simple complaint they come down very hard on us making us feel unappreciated.
