Pros

The opportunity to be employed remotely is great. It is extremely helpful for those who are parents and have little to no support with their children.

Cons

When they are able to accommodate single parents better, this will be a great place to work. They expect the needs of the business to come before the needs of the employees. It’s pretty unrealistic at times and extremely tone deaf to the importance of the role single parents contribute to their family structure.

Pros

The hourly rate was good because they gave yearly raises. But they would find a reason to fire you after 10 years because you were making more money than a lot of the managers. It made no sense, but be ready.

Cons

I worked as a retail mechanic for 11 years at Carmax. They would send me 10 or 15 cars first thing in the morning, and expect me to diagnose and have parts ordered for all of them by 10 am or so, every day. Anybody knows, you can not really diag that many cars in 2 hours. So everybody cheats .... they just guess. One guy used to diag his cars at his computer terminal ............ he would not pull most of the cars in the shop. If you can not diag 10 or 15 cars in 2 hours, you will be considered slow and no good. So you had better be a good lier and scammer if you want to make it has a retail mechanic at Carmax. Management knew it was all a big scam but they played along with it because they were part of it. The pay was flate rate Mitchell time only ..... which is very close to factory warranty time ............. which means a small pay check for the mechanic unless you were really fast .............. wink, wink.

Pros

None. There is no redeemable quality

Cons

I’ll just leave this post Well folks the day has finally come, I am no longer part of the Carmax family. With that being said, and the fact I can speak freely about it let me share a few bits of information 1. The prices of the vehicles are exhbortant for what they are 2. The stores are so short staffed that the service department does not have the time to properly inspect or maintain the vehicles for your purchase. I received countless phone calls of customers trying to return a vehicle that had been purchased in the past 30 days do to mechanical failure. 3. The credit application process is predatory. The sales department no longer gets incentives to sell you the car, only to run your credit, and some associates do not mind misleading you to get you to run another application that could result up to another eight inquiries per application These are just a few things not related to actually working for them, working conditions and pay is atrocious as well as the feedback from management. If you took the time to read this I implore you to find your next vehicle any where else but Carmax.
