Pros

In California, base pay of $12/hr Good people work there

Cons

Way too many sales consultants for number of cars sold, leads to lack of $ for consultants Major emphasis on their proprietary sales process Management has a caring face, but is an inadequate support group Very concerned with bottom line, unless you're hired into the business office, inventory, buying office or as a mechanic, your ability to advance or change positions is greatly handicapped

Pros

Carmax definitely has a friendly environment to work under.

Cons

Its a car company that makes it hard for employees to purchase cara other than wholesale pieces. Constantly micro managed with very little room for improvement. Management doea everything for the customers and nothing for employees. Management looks down on time off even when there are plenty of people working. Other departments look down on sales especially purchasing. Corporate is a joke and their representatives are useless. Constant indoctrination amd training is miserable. Always roll playing and critiqued on everything.
