Pros

Excellent pay and benefits especially when starting out as a newly graduated RPh. Stores run well if the staff is well trained.

Cons

I have been working for CVS since May 2001. In my time I have worked in 3 different parts of the country. In my time I've noticed CVS has only ever cared about 2 things: greed and speed. The company is great for shareholders, mediocre if you're a patient, and awful if you are an employee. The stores are understaffed just enough so the work can get done if everyone works as a team. Unfortunately, the few techs who are good at their job end up getting burnt out and move on to a better company. The workload for pharmacists is dangerous, as is not getting the opportunity to get any sort of break in a 13 hour shift. I fill about 500 rxs a day with 3 hours of Pharmacist overlap. I literally dread having to answer customer questions for fear that I will be so behind I'll have to stay over after closing without pay. CVS's labor practices are reminiscent of those of turn of the century sweatshops, only with air conditioning. Avoid working for them, they are ruining the dignity of our profession. They will be the reason we end up Unionizing.

Pros

Pay is ok to start

Cons

Pay increases are poor Worst health insurance Drug coverage sad for a big pharmacy company CME money is a joke PTO is a joke On call and schedule you any time they want if they need you your requested days off that are approve don't mean anything they own you Questionable practices with charging patients for evaluations that are not in the scope of the clinic and then referring them out Monitoring emails and timing visits Doing bag searches at the front door in front of Courtney's and patients paring down your lab coat Clocking in and out for lunch Working solo for 11 hour shifts in a small room no windows and no drinks allowed in clinic so if you need a drink of water you have to leave the clinic and go to the store room for hydration if you don't have patients waiting Multiple IT issues that leave you hanging for hours until resolved restoring to paper Full time is 40 to 40 hours a week so if you need 40 it is not consistent Management is totally disconnect and they think they are progressive and pro NP which couldn't be farther from the truth The CEO makes 13,000 dollars an hour the biggest discrepancy of any company in retail

Pros

money. pay check. not much else.

Cons

software development management is not up to the mark. processes are horribly off the mark. 5-10 years behind in technology and processes. SDLC followed is prime reason for budget overruns. 80-90% IT staff are non-employees Professionalism and treating coworkers with respect is absent.
