Pros
Excellent pay and benefits especially when starting out as a newly graduated RPh. Stores run well if the staff is well trained.
Cons
I have been working for CVS since May 2001. In my time I have worked in 3 different parts of the country. In my time I've noticed CVS has only ever cared about 2 things: greed and speed. The company is great for shareholders, mediocre if you're a patient, and awful if you are an employee. The stores are understaffed just enough so the work can get done if everyone works as a team. Unfortunately, the few techs who are good at their job end up getting burnt out and move on to a better company. The workload for pharmacists is dangerous, as is not getting the opportunity to get any sort of break in a 13 hour shift. I fill about 500 rxs a day with 3 hours of Pharmacist overlap. I literally dread having to answer customer questions for fear that I will be so behind I'll have to stay over after closing without pay. CVS's labor practices are reminiscent of those of turn of the century sweatshops, only with air conditioning. Avoid working for them, they are ruining the dignity of our profession. They will be the reason we end up Unionizing.
