Pros

There are some people who really care, and they were great, but few. HR did a great job of offering professional development courses.

Cons

Terrible company culture. Absolutely terrible. Company is relatively small, so when 15 - 20 people leave within 7 months (and some of them senior level directors or even people who have barely been there a year) then you know you have problems. Overworked, underpaid, and undervalued. And I can’t stress that enough - undervalued. It is a revolving door and a skeleton crew - not enough bandwidth to meet senior level demands. Everything is last minute and has to be done “now.” Bottom line: Don’t do it.

Pros

Nice place to work, people are smart. Great location for food. Lots of food choices. Close to Chinatown. Close to subway.

Cons

No flex time, CEO is moody and treats staff poorly. Sub par benefits. People have quit in the past. On the spot.

Pros

One of the few compliments I can give this organization is the quality of staff at the Director level (sometimes) and below. Support/administrative, professional and manager level staff were in general bright, competent, and honest individuals. I mostly encountered pleasant people in my five years at CFP Board.

Cons

However, imho upper management lacked the cohesion, thoughtfulness and perhaps even desire to provide a positive and productive work environment for staff and conduct their core business in a proper manner. Some personalities at the upper mgmt level are less than savory or pleasant individuals. In general, my experience with the "leadership" team could be characterized by poor communication, less-than-straightforward feedback and coaching, and little support for professional development activities. Some departments were a revolving door, often leaning on temp staff, and it was often difficult to get things done. High-level decisions and strategy often seemed short-sighted and reactionary.
