Run don't walk away

Pros

Nice office in central location (as long as yellow doesn't offend you), free food sometimes

Cons

Every Wednesday morning the Executive Leadership Team gets together and talks about how they can cut costs to so they can meet their bottom line. This is always at the expense of the lowest paid staff (essentially everyone else). You'd never see Kevin give up his six figure yearly bonus, but of course its fine if you cut back on the occasional free food that the staff looks forward to in order to get a break from spending $15 on lunch in downtown D.C. It's totally fine that we offer the board members (of which there are many boards and many members of those boards) all expense paid trips to D.C. or where ever they decide to hold their meetings but no parental leave (at all!) for the regular staff if you happen to want a family. They hire most positions exclusively through staffing agencies so that they don't have to pay benefits including sick leave, holidays, 401k, and health insurance. Temp staff are made to feel like second class citizens by those who have graduated into employees of CFP Board who continue to perpetuate this hazing process. The culture of this organization is abysmal and morale is incredibly low, this contributes greatly to the excessively high turnover rate. While regular staff are underpaid and undervalued, CFP Board throws money at numerous contractors that are vastly overpaid. It's hard to remain happy at work when you know you're only making a fraction of what the contractor that only comes in for an hour each week makes. All this to say run don't walk from this place. Also HR is a complete joke and you'd be better off screaming in the stairwell than go to them if you have a legitimate issue.

A Truly Terrible Place to Work

Pros

There are some great people working there, not at the management level however.

Cons

Terrible pay, horrible executive leadership, subpar benefits, management is awful, if you are fresh out of college they will most certainly take advantage of you with terrible hours and godawful work. Mistreat and underpay anyone under manager level, management only pretends to care about employees when they’ve been called out/found out for doing something bad, everything is a top priority but we don’t have enough staff or resources

Pros

Good bonus program, but.... Sometimes there was free lunch while working in the office, unfortunately…. Staff are able to work from home during the pandemic, however…. The office is sometimes closed between the Christmas and New Year holidays, although….

Cons

Low staff morale, substandard benefits, low pay, arrogant/inefficient management, unequal treatment of staff.
