Pros

Great people to work with (Director Level or below),. vacation days, some benefits, office space...Geez, why is this 20 word minimum so difficult to reach? That in itself should tell you something...

Cons

Management uncaring except for themselves (the leadership team actually hates each other). Little or no internal controls. At staff meetings, they have a dedicated time to openly make fun of CFPs who are being disciplined and laugh at people who call in. "Unprofessional" is what I would call this organization and its CEO. This place is like a sausage factory and if I were a CFP(R), I'd lose all faith in this organization.

The worst company you will ever work for

Pros

Sometimes there's free food, a couple of people are nice.

Cons

The first week I started at this company, I made an effort to smile and say hello to everyone. The fact that a majority of people wouldn’t smile back or acknowledge me should have been a red flag. The promise of being paid a good salary, a lunch with the CEO when you first start, and working for a company that claims to value diversity is all a bait and switch technique. All of the other reviews here are completely accurate about how deep the mismanagement runs in this company. People at staff level are worked to the bone, aren’t paid a living wage (most work second jobs), are turned against each other and are often hostile, while upper management refuses to take phone calls from clients or help people at the staff level at all, and are known to retaliate if anyone speaks up or makes a suggestion for how to improve the company. This company has ridiculously poor pay and benefits, no maternity leave, and engages in sketchy practices to cut costs. i.e. Over a year ago, they tried to get out of paying lower level employees for an unexpected snow day that closed down the office. Dealing with clients is often a nightmare. Most have a horrific sense of entitlement, and many male clients don’t seem to have received the memo that it’s no longer 1950 and calling women “sweetheart, baby, doll, and honey” in a professional setting is inappropriate. To make matters worse, people who have worked here for years can’t get a pay raise to a basic $40K because management claims there isn’t enough room in the budget. A week after a coworker, who had been at the company for several years, asked for a raise and was told this, upper management sent out an email to CFP holders offering to fly them out to DC, put them up in hotels, and pay for all their meals in exchange for participating in a survey. And as difficult as it is for those who management favors, it’s even worse for those who don’t. Managers make no attempt at hiding their favoritism and allow certain workers to coast by every day, doing things such as painting their nails, watching Netflix and YouTube, reading, doing outside work, and online shopping. All while telling the workers who aren’t favorites that they aren’t doing enough. The problem is, it’s close to impossible to do even the simplest of tasks because everything is micromanaged, and you start to feel genuinely bad for some clients because you can’t help them out as much as you’d like. Long story short, this company has low reviews and a high turnover rate for a reason. HR themselves has admitted that there’s practically no room for growth at this company, which should tell you all you need to know.

You'll be miserable and micromanaged!

Pros

There's always plenty of food around. The building is nice and in a great location (Northwest in the heart of downtown).

Cons

The previous reviews are spot on! This place is extremely toxic...stay far away! The senior staff do not care about anyone else but themselves. Most staff members are not valued and are overworked and mistreated. The pay is terrible and the benefits are mediocre at best (no maternity leave or transportation benefits). The culture of the organization is lacking and stuck in the past. CFP Board praises and rewards individuals who perform poorly, simply because they may be well-liked by management. In the meantime, the hardest working people in the organization are underpaid, mistreated, and sometimes bullied. There are absolutely zero opportunities for professional development and no growth for employees coming in at the entry level. It's no wonder this organization has such high turnover.
