Not a great franchise model

Pros

Turn-key furniture franchise business with support from the franchisor in marketing, sales, training, and best practices.

Cons

Not a proven profitable business model for franchisees with low margins, high costs and perceived value of product not in sync with retail prices. The franchisor focus is not in dealer profitability.

Pros

BoConcept offers a great opportunity to network with clients. The collection is known for its novelty and is easy to sell.

Cons

I was very excited to join BoConcept till I realized there was no tolerance for simply having a month of poor sales or bad luck – this is not a place where you can learn and grow. While the owners and my colleagues were always supportive, my Team Leader considered fear-based and antagonistic management style as the true motivation for the team. The use of foreign language to often discuss professional matters within upper management was considered normal, often pulling down new hires who were ambitious or different. I am certainly thankful that BoConcept let me go when I addressed these issues because if not, today, I wouldn’t be part of a prestigious institution or rather, recognize what I had to offer in the world of Design as opposed to being bullied for your constant efforts. This job is not worth your precious weekends for being always watched through security cameras by your Team Leader obsessing over every move you make. Trust builds a Team. I still am very grateful for the opportunity I had at BoConcept but I do feel responsible to voice my experience.

Pros

1. Furniture discounts. 2. Free snacks in the basement.

Cons

1. Boconcept only pays half of their employees medical plan. 2. Pay is lower than the required market rate for a person with a degree. 3. No reimbursement of money when you take the LIRR to their other locations. 4. No training. 5. The lifting of multiple heavy furniture. 6. Working around condescending HR and boss. 7. Mandatory for workers to go to their picnic on non working hours on a Sunday. 8. Given janitorial work by throwing away construction workers garbage by myself. 9. Tasked to do electrical work by checking all the light-bulbs. 10. Will be given assistant work by picking up the forgetful bosses computer charger from a location to be given to him at a hotel. 11. Was given a janitorial work by installing a toilet valve.
