Pros

You meet some really great people, typically young interior designers who should be working as creatives.

Cons

There are too many. At the top, the owners are completely unprofessional and are lucky they picked a turn key franchise. They do not appreciate the people who make them money and filter off the best paying clients to family. Disrespectful comments and actions toward employees at all levels. Extremely underpaid at all levels compared to NYC market average. Salary is used as a way to make people work gross amounts of hours to even squeak out a very modest living. Management is inept at actually facilitating positive change and just go along with owners bad ideas. The one person they listen to is a relative of the owners, so you can imagine what that is like. Only contribute half towards insurance, which at the pay rate is completely out of reach. There is no room to advance a real retail career with this franchise.

Pros

Corporate seems to stand behind their product. Some of the designs are really brilliant, the corporate employees that I have met were friendly and knowledgeable.

Cons

This is a franchise (located on North La Brea Ave, Los Angeles) - under poor ownership and totally mismanaged. Understaffed, overworked and underpaid. The lowest commission rate of any company I've ever been with. Tons of miscommunication and micromanaging. Outrageously unattainable sales goals. Unprofessional, negative, high stress environment. Extreme level of immaturity. Outdated and inadequate technology makes everything more difficult. Hours of operation are later than every other business in the area. Disorganized and chaotic showroom and stock room. Tons of customer complaints. Poor customer service. Bad delivery/assembly services on top of customer orders being constantly delayed. I could go on and on. One of the...no, THE worst job I have ever had in 15 years of retail.

Fairly large company, with many locations.

Cons

Franchised, keep strict guideline on how their products are sold, but not on how their employees are treated (who personify their brand). Franchisees not held accountable.
