Pros

There are some really talented and dedicated individual contributors, but I fear many are on their way out

Cons

Morale couldn't be any lower. There is no team building, recognition, or taking care of employees. Everything is mandated, demanded, and micro-managed. When people leave, the additional work is just piled on to remaining overworked employees. The vacated spots are rarely backfilled.

Pros

The only real bright spot at Avaya are your co-workers. Always has been this way. For whatever reason they seem to get really great and capable people. No so with management. Some of the first line managers are good. Others are complete automatons. It's a mixed bag. Best case is an engineer who is now a manager. They're generally okay.

Cons

Current CEO is a scumbag. We've had plenty of bad CEOs before this but Alan is the worst of them all. Countless broken promises. New edict: if you're within 40 miles of an office, he is now requiring commuting 5 days a week, no exceptions. Regardless of whether you've been virtual office or not for decades previously. Salaries are stagnant. They rarely do matching 401k contributions (they decide whether to or not for each period - "sorry, better luck next year"), and the pay rises have been below industry standard for years, with no sign of changes. The product portfolio (usually a strength) has never been weaker. They were late to cloud and the offers are immature beyond belief.

Pros

Work from home policy is great Embedded base is pretty loyal Day-to-day freedom to get your job done Base salary is solid Interesting work

Cons

Constant changes in upper management (senior VP level and secondary cxo suite) prevents initiatives/strategies from playing out Debt load is brutal and despite being the clear driver behind layoffs/furloughs management cherry picks stats to deny it as an issue in internal messaging. Layoffs don't seem to have much thought behind them other than the balance sheet - positions are eliminated that almost immediately require backfill Account managers are rarely knowledgable about what they are selling which puts a huge strain on the shrinking SE teams - management is either unaware of this or do not see it as an issue. Business partner community is coddled and can complain there way into being allocated resources, discounts and exceptions from certification requirements
