Pros

It's probably a good place to pass through and gain experience. For young, college grads, I'd say go for it -- for a couple of years, and then move on. Avaya will give a person new to the business world, a taste of corporate America at its worst. Their next move will no doubt be better!

Cons

Senior Management treats mid and low level managers very poorly -- yelling, intimidation -- it's horrible. Avaya has a great number of people who are awesome performers, who work a ridiculous number of hours, who have been loyal, and who want to help the company be successful. Unfortunately, those people are leaving, or will be because they refuse to continue to be treated the way Avaya Senior Management treats their employees. It's a sin.

Pros

I can't think of any now... going private has resulted in many lay offs and it's difficult to see what the long term strategy really is. However, in R&D I have found management to be very supportive of work-life balance. There are many tele-commuters and people work very flexible hours.

Cons

Pros

A Bell Labs history with zeal to tame disruptive technologies for our customers creates a great work environment. As an engineer the opportunity to work on leading edge technology truly tests ones skills. Using these skills with teammates located across the globe presents a challenging development environment.

Cons

Business politics and ego centric leadership stifle opportunities. Lack of investment on infrastructure, tools, and training make it difficult to meet aggressive schedules. Recent mid level management new hires lack experience. This has created confusion in chain of command and management decisions.
