Pros

Lot of technologies, big company making a lot of telephony & call center products, personally had a fun job.

Cons

Lot's of layoffs which severely demoralized staff. Sucky marketing!! Nobody has heard of Avaya, even if they use their phones which they use day in/out. Poor globalization partners. Older culture lacking ambition or much vision. Given this, a younger player might easily capsize the business with the right new technology.

Pros

The only reason to work for Avaya right now is to collect a paycheck (while you can).

Cons

Layoffs every 30 days makes it a very depressing place to work.

Pros

Own inventions Growing business in Ip telephony and application to support it Good salary

Cons

was bought by TPG & Silverlak - a public equity firm. Even that they are known for their commitment to make a business grow they where reducing some 15% of workforce after the first 9 months of ownership. It's important to realize that Avaya was still making xxx million profit after taxes. Thus - biggest downside is that the company is currently going through a restructuring process.
