Pros

Flexible schedule, generous vacation time

Cons

Avaya is unable to recruit top talent because it is a small player in a big player space and it does not have sufficient resources to compete with its large competitors in attracting talent. Instead it gets mid-tier execs from much larger companies to take firt-time leadership rolesat Avaya. It has a very limited marketing budget (when is the last Avaya TV commercial you saw vs. Cisco?) and thus is greatly challenged to build its brand and take market share: many people simply have never heard of it although its embedded customer base is large. Without tools to grow the business, the company will continue to struggle and environment for employees will continue to disintegrate. In response to the tough market environment and to its private equity owners, leadership blames lower management for not achieveing financial goals while leadership does not provide sufficient resources for managers to get the job done. The company focuses largely on its internal culture(US-centric, New Jersey-driven) and is not sensistive to external factors affecting its business. Management is CYA only. Serious lack of diversity in the US employee base; only one woman in fhte C-suite. No professional development opportunities.
