Pros

You get to build and test computer servers.

Cons

You really do not get to see the product in the field or how it is going to be used(its end result). They do not support your personal attempts to engage the technology with school or other courses. They tell you (if you are lucky) the bare min. to get the job done and no more. Few people really know how the systems work and they keep that info to themselves pretty much.

Pros

Compensation and benefits are well above average for the industry. Management generally treats employees fairly although they resort to lay-offs too quickly.

Cons

Poor business model. Long-term viability questionable. Management (components) is stuck in the thoroughly discredited practice of cost-cutting their way to survival. Arrow is still very cash positive but losing marketshare and margin.

Pros

The people who work here are all quite nice. There is a excellent cafeteria which is bonus, as well as a nice lounge. Also, the campus is quite nice to walk around during the spring/summer.

Cons

Although senior management is trying to fix it, everyone still works in silos. Too much red tape, and it's a real hassle to communicate with people in the office and over at SIVAC. There is no real structure in the way of career advancement (From what I've seen, if you're a minority you have very, very little chance of moving up), and management simply doesn't care about the work/life balance (Overtime is not simply suggested, it's required - especially at quarter/year end). A good percentage of management are unqualified for the positions they hold, and some of them have less education than the people they are manage. The best employees eventually get tired of this and end up going to other companies (including our competitors). And because of the downturn, we've recently lost a lot of people, which makes it that much harder for everyone around the office to do their job.
