Pros

Great mission, great onboarding/training program. Decent benefits outside of pay.

Cons

Very low pay for hours expected. Extreme low morale. Management disaster! Extreme micromanagement by supervisor (to the point that it was said to me "you should write that on a larger piece of paper" when I was writing a reminder to MYSELF! And critiqued on how to keep my own personal calendar so "stay organized". My first week I was invited to a staff meeting with my peers from our area. It was very clear the lack of respect that was held for all management by my peers. Peers were openly admonished in front of the group, ideas were called "stupid", and upper management in attendance did not say a word to stop this behavior. One peer stated she felt a lack of respect and leadership and was scolded! After the meeting one peer was actually crying and several more were stating how horrible the management was. I have never worked in such a hostile environment in my life. I was fortunate that another job was offered to me during my first week there and I gladly jumped to take it and left without having to face one more day there. I can't believe how poorly the supervisor was allowed to treat staff with no recourse. After leaving, no one even called or emailed me to find out what happened!!

Completely Lacking Integrity

Pros

There are absolutely no pros to working for or with this organization as they are completely lacking in integrity

Cons

Where would one begin. After several years of leadership experience, this was absolutely I would have to say the worst organization I was ever affiliated with. To say they have any sort of leadership would be a compliment which I would refuse to extend to this pathetic and unethical organization who take money from giving people only to line the pockets of some of the world's worst managers. Leadership is stacked in favor of Gail McGovern who should simply be ashamed of herself.

Pros

The mission of the red cross is the best pro if management would follow it. Helping save lives got me going daily. Flexibility and autonomy in this position.

Cons

Completely dysfunctional, unorganized, contradictory management direction. They don't seem to care about their employees at all. I was so disappointed that this was the environment. I would never recommend working there. It was like working for a giant for profit company.
