      Pros

      An opportunity to truly help people through one of their worst days ever. The mission is a good one.

      Cons

      Morale is at an all-time low, and it looks like it will be that way for a long time to come. Leaders do not lead, but regularly demonstrate demoralizing arrogance and defensiveness. The organization has traded basic leadership skills and positive, motivating, growth oriented culture for a workforce that is regularly beaten and devalued. Red Cross could do a LOT better were it to admit its deficiencies, be transparent in attempts to fix them, and foster a creative approach to problem solving. Definitely not an organization to join if you want to be valued for your contributions.

      ARC has a great mission and some truly dedicated staff and volunteers

      Cons

      The strategic review process is a joke - the leadership team's pet projects were kept while core services were reduced drastically or eliminated. The leadership team lied to senior management about budget projections and priorities, doing exactly as they pleased once they walked out of the high level budget meetings. This organization benefits from a great reputation and recognizable brand, but they are a joke. Can't wait to find a position with an org that actually fulfills its mission.

      Job with a vital mission. Opportunity to work with a wide range of people; people who will inspire you both internally and externally.

      Cons

      Business decisions of the organization create conflict within the depts that need to work together. Recent changes don't serve the greater purpose of those who support it.
