Pros

Decent work life balance Working from home Good PTO options Two weeks of paid training and mentorship from current employees

Cons

First, every piece of software besides outlook and Excel is proprietary, meaning they're absolutely zero transferable skills you can use to better yourself. On top of this, most of these programs are decades old and essentially broken. Be prepared to get frustrated every day at the complicated and broken nature of the software and programs that you will use on a day-to-day basis. The skills you need to succeed at this job are so niche that you will have a lot of trouble finding another job if you choose to leave. Second, this company likes to outsource jobs all the time, you are almost guaranteed to see people you work with be fired and replaced with people from India... It's really only a matter of time until it happens to you. Third, the pay isn't great for the amount of work you're expected to do. Granted you do have 40 hour weeks and there is overtime when it's busy, but the workload they assigned to you is insane, no normal person will be able to delegate all their tasks into a 40-hour work week. Fourth, there is paid training in the beginning, if you go through the ignite program. However, this training is effectively useless and once you are assigned to your client team (they could give you two!) You are expected to know how to do the job effectively, which is insane considering the amount of information and software knowledge you are expected to have mastered. Lastly, upward mobility and promotion opportunities are extremely few and far between. The only times I've ever seen somebody promoted is because there are immediate openings due to the massive turnover that this company has. Many people, myself included, quit because of the absurd amount of work that is assigned to you, and thus are replaced by naive and eager college graduates who are in for a rude awakening. The point is, this company may look promising on the outside, and it is certainly growing... But the work, stress, and lack of opportunity will make you abandoned ship. It's a matter of when, not if.

Pros

Working from home and benefits are nice. Really smart colleagues!

Cons

You will be worked very hard and there is little room for growth. While working from home is nice, you're always on. My boss likes to say this isn't a 40-45 hour a week job. They are not hiring enough colleagues to fulfill client needs, and expect current staff to absorb... during already increased demands at home (covid). Much of the staff is burning out. Growth is hard as well. They're viewing the organization flat and not planning for staff advancement or movement at higher levels. In summary you'll be worked hard and there will be no promotion for hard work.

Pros

They will your paycheck on time

Cons

Alight is a sinking ship that has not seen growth in years. All this company cares about is satisfying the clients they have left and will often neglect their own employees in the process. They will lie to your face about the work-life balance during the interview process and you will realize it pretty quickly. It's almost a guarantee they will put you on over three projects at a time and bombard you with tasks from every direction. You will often be in over 6 meetings a day and end up working overtime/weekends (without pay) just to keep up with the workload. To make things worse, compensation is way below the average and there is no clear opportunity for growth. DO NOT ACCEPT THIS OFFER! You will be happier driving uber.
