Pros

Most of time a safe secure job. The workplace can be positive.

Cons

Opportunities are all driven by the $$$ numbers. Less concern about employees. All decisions are decided by the numbers. Customer Service is on the list, but always takes a back seat to the numbers.

Pros

There are a lot of good people there in the trenches with me. The pay is very good Benefits are still good but eroding quickly

Cons

The worst job I have ever had! Steer clear of this cluster#@#%. This place will keep you physically ill. Inefficiencies everywhere, productivity destroyed by a "productivity tool" that requires you to spend your day telling the boss what you are doing instead of actually working. No job security, bosses threatening. Opinions and descent are forbidden Decisions are made at the highest level possible. Regardless of what it is, you have to check with your boss before doing it. They also have to check with their boss. Communication is one way, top to bottom. Bringing up a problem is considered as evidence of a personality defect rather than as an observation of reality. Managers measure the quality of your work only by the quantity of work performed. And at at&t, we sell communications, we don't use 'em. Departments are like little kingdoms that war with each other leaving the customer in the middle out of service. I could go on forever but frankly this company wastes enough of my time already. The only thing at&t seams to require from me for the $ they pay me is my silent obedience.

Pros

I can still work as hard as I want and as many hours. I do get quite a bit of vacation.

Cons

I started with SWB Wireless over 10 years ago. It was fast moving but you were treated well and compensated according to your accomplishments. The bureaucracy has turned this company into a huge slow moving gorilla. Career opportunities have long dried up. The compensation packages for promotions are often insulting. I constantly feel like my company is trying to fleece me. I am constantly squeezed for more and more performance while my reward was a 0% raise last year after they turned a $12B profit during a huge recession.
