Pros

Flexible attitude to agile working; management don't micro manage and if you want to work from home more than once a week, have the flexibility to do so. For those who thrive in a target driven environment, there is a definite reward culture in terms of bonus and opportunities to further your career. One of the better companies I've worked for in terms of rewarding high performance with a number of options for diversifying, moving side wards, upwards or, being involved in different projects. Remuneration and benefits package is good.

Cons

Workload is fairly heavy and whilst management do try and ensure you don't have a req overload, it is fully expected you will regularly work long hours to service the needs of the client. Management don't push back with the client; they take on and agree whatever SLAs or KPIs are asked for; without thinking through impact on those doing the delivery. It's very target driven and a 'bums on seat' mentality rather than a focus on quality and getting the 'right candidate'. It feels more like you’re working for an agency than being an “extension of the client”. If you're an ex agency recruiter who's looking for slightly less pressure and no cold calling, I can see the benefits of this as a career move. However, if you're ex in house or a recruiter driven by value add and enhancing the candidate experience, unlikely to be an environment where you’ll thrive. It's also incredibly admin heavy. There is a high turnover of staff company-wide due to bad management in some areas (not all) and whilst I was lucky that my face 'fitted', I saw some colleagues treated very differently because theirs didn't. There is a constant expectation to do more and more at the client's request. Ideas for change or to simplify/enhance processes aren't supported or encouraged. Induction was non existent - there was no training given or, handover.

Pros

5 weeks annual leave and purchased leave

Cons

They promote themselves in Australia as a global organization and what they really are is a small minded company with very dodgy and unethical practices. During my time I witnessed bullying by senior leaders, favoritism, unjustifiable lack of promotions, salary increases and bonuses. Their motto is 'perception is reality' and their reality is warped. I am surprised that an employee hasn't taken them to Fair Work Australia because their practices and how they get away with treating their staff is abhorrent and no corporate organisation would treat their staff the way they do. They sell a good RPO solution to a client and how their own values align to the clients which is false. I think if the clients knew how AMS treated their staff that worked in site, morally they would not give AMS business. I would recommend any ex agency recruiter wanting to get internal experience to steer clear of AMS an look at other organizations first.

Pros

Global company Strong processes and gidelines

Cons

AMS US is has a horrible culture! Mangers are weak and tend to lie right to your face, rather than telling the truth or giving a constructive criticism! No chance to improve, learn or develop, as all your career pass is decided behind your back without asking you. They treat very highly skilled and educated employees like fools.
