Pros

Very large company, even larger since being bought by Apollo and merged with Protection One. The employees are dedicated, management less so. More concerned with certain KPI's than actually helping a salesperson to succeed.

Cons

What you are told during interviews about the benefits, territories training etc aren't necessarily how it is. You will find out as you are filling out paperwork on day one the this is true. Or three weeks in you'll find out that how leads are distributed (leads are worth the paper they are printed on) is different than told, or your territory isn't really the way it was told to you. By the way territories aren't protected.

Pros

Flexibility Cell phone and tuition reimbursement Decent dental and medical benefits Uncapped earnings Paid vacation although not much Can't say much else

Cons

Long hours, not enough compensation Every year you work harder and get paid significantly less due to constant compensation plan changes. To be honest, ADT offers a great alarm system. But they don't give a crap about their sales reps or even sales managers. They constantly take more and more money out of reps pockets while expecting you to work for free half the time. Most leads are sold over the phone through national call center, or sent to an authorized dealer- they send you the scraps to divide up between all the local sales reps. Company appointments you receive consist of a lot of fake appointments, renters who don't qualify, etc. The reality is they pay well for self generated sales. That's all they really want from you. Because it costs them much less that way. They will promise you a ton of company appointments, but they lie. To top it off, you have to compete with ADT dealers and ADT phone sales, both of which we can't even MATCH their price offerings let alone beat it. Look elsewhere. Most well tenured reps have left and those of us still here. .. wish we weren't and are looking elsewhere.

Pros

Name recognition is huge with ADT. Customers are familiar with the branding. Home automation with PULSE and NEST products has improved.

Cons

Marketing consistently misses on appointments per rep commitment. Sales rep training process lacks structure and managers aren't disciplined enough to be able to manage the new reps as well as tenured reps. Reps and technicians work evenings/weekends but management is hard to get ahold of during these times. Commission structure for reps is behind the times. It is a straight commission role with no base so many of the reps are not experienced reps. Technicians are hourly so many "sit" on the job and milk the clock
