Pros

Feel good about a job that helps protect people and property. The 401K is really good with a full match up to 5%. Great, cutting edge technology for customers.

Cons

Internal systems are old and outdated. Salaries are low outside of the national accounts sales staff. The company isn't that good at bringing in and retaining talent. Talent management of current employees is non existent. The company isn't willing to spend money to do the job right and get the employees what they need to do their jobs.

Pros

Great medical plan, good retirement plan. ADT is a great company to work for in an administrative/operations role, and as an installer. Retention rates for these positions are high. Sales reps on the other hand.... You will tend to form excellent relationships with your fellow sales reps because of the incredible pressure applied to you constantly by the company, similar to individuals that endure a traumatic life experience with each other.

Cons

Terrible job. Extremely high pressure. Extremely long hours. In order to achieve the goals set forth by upper management they really require cream-of-the-crop sales talent, but still only at an entry-level pay plan. Turn over rate is astronomical. Sink or swim mentality. Most reps are turned over before they have a chance to succeed. Management is very deceptive towards new prospects. You won't find out the true requirements of the job until a couple of weeks after you've been hired. If they were straightforward about the position in the interview they'd have a very hard time getting people in the door. Comp plan is changed (meaning cut) every 6-12 months, but is packaged as an improvement of course. Very deceptive, high-pressure sales tactics - typical of what you see at aggressive car dealerships. A lot of buyer's remorse from your customers. You will not feel good about what you do. Product is vastly over priced. If customers shop around they will almost certainly choose another company, hence the incredible pressure to close the sale on the first visit. As mentioned in a prior review, the computer programs used are comically out of date and incredibly buggy. The primary program used to measure sales performance is almost always wrong and there is no recourse for the sales rep. You may very well hit your goal in a given week or month, but if this buggy program shows otherwise you will be told 'tough luck, sell more, sell until this computer program shows you at your goal.' A zealous labor attorney could have a field day with ADT Security. On a monthly basis roughly 10% of sales reps achieve ADT's sales goals. On a yearly basis roughly 2% achieve their goals. Of course that doesn't stop ADT from applying constant pressure to hit these numbers. Often times one department's bonuses are based on metrics that directly conflict with those of other departments, hence a lot of tension and bickering between, for example, the operations and sales departments. For 99% of the people that come to work for ADT as residential sales reps, it is a 3-6 month stopping point between real jobs. In my 2 years with the company I have witnessed several dozen perfectly good people, most with talent, come to ADT, realize the horror of the job, and promptly move on to something better. Do yourself the biggest favor of your life and keep looking. I am.

Pros

A lot of money to be made if your a hard worker. Great benefits, flexibility and chance for promotions.

Cons

Upper management somewhat out of touch with the sales environment. Very numbers driven. Commission only, if you do not work hard you will not pay yourself. Stay away from the politics and worry only about yourself and you will do well.
