I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Sears (Phoenix, AZ) in Jul 2012
Interview
I applied online after I saw the "now hiring" sign. They sent me an e-mail in a couple of days, and scheduled an interview for me, but I didn't see the e-mail, so I missed it. I called back and scheduled another interview, they were pretty good about this, they didn't get mad or anything. I went in at the scheduled time, almost missed the office, it was hidden in the exercise department, and waited for them to call me in. They did, the Asst. Manager was very nice and understanding, he told me about the process, what the job would be like and all of the pay and benefits info. The interview was easy enough, just your standard q&A, he just had to fill out a form. He said that he would tell the Manager to do the second interview, which meant I would be called in AGAIN, to be interviewed by the full manager. I never got called back or e-mailed back.

I applied online one day to a Sales Associate opening. A week later I called to check up and set up an interview. I was seen the next day. I first went in the with first manager, then the store manager, and then my department manager. It all went very smooth and I was hired on the spot (no retail experience).
