I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Sears (Knoxville, TN) in Nov 2012
Interview
Hiring process was pretty simple. After filling out the application I was called in for an interview with one of the managers. She then proceeded to ask me about my previous work history and then quizzed me on some "what if?" scenarios. However, coming from retail these were easily answered.
Then after that interview I sat down with the assistant store manager for a follow-up interview with him. He then asked if I still was interested and then asked a bit about myself and asked a few more "what if" scenarios. At the end I was offered a job on the spot.

Question 1
Nothing was very difficult or unexpected. However, always have a good explanation how you would handle a disgruntled customer. Also, have a good response to "What is your biggest challenge while working in retail?"

Interview
Initial response to application was three-four days later. Set up interview & when I arrived at the scheduled time, I had to wait for 45 mins while they tracked down the manager. The office was pretty busy but I was ignored. I was asked the basic question: biggest strength/weakness, tell me about your previous sales experience....that kinda stuff. If you've ever interviewed in retail before, it'll be very familiar.
