I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at New York Life (New York, NY) in Sep 2015
Interview
I applied through their careers website and was declined an interview. Then I saw the same position available through a recruiter and (according the the recruiter) received an indication of interest within hours. My recruiter set up an interview with two hiring managers in their brokerage division. The questions were standard: "What would your manager say that you do well?"; "What would your manager say you need to improve on?"; "How do you manage your team?". As the interview progressed, I feel that the questions were getting vague enough to tell me they were looking for someone different. Had I been fortunate to continue with the process, I would have met with even more senior management that were situated away from New York Life's brokerage business.

Question 1
How do you expect to go from an environment that is unstructured to an environment that is very cut-and-dry with how things are done?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at New York Life (Seattle, WA) in Sep 2011
Interview
Initial screening by hiring manager followed by some tests and follow up interviews; I was pleasantly surprised by their selectiveness; other companies in the industry hire just about anyone given the high failure rate; New York Life seems to invest more on developing agents; thus, are more selective up front.

Question 1
Why are you interested in the financial services industry?
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at New York Life (Lutherville Timonium, MD) in Mar 2014
Interview
Smooth, it went by quite fast. I was probably there for like 45 minutes the first time. on the same day I was offered to come back for second interview, for which I had to sit down with the entire team of advisors that I was going to work with. That interview went well and I was offered the position on the spot.
