I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at New York Life (Bridgewater, MA)
Interview
Interview went well. There were 4 separate interviews which I guess would make sense for a large Fortune 100 Company. They were surprisingly honest and told me the pros and cons to working here. They're only looking for top people so they try to weed out the people who wouldn't make it. I think a lot of the complaints I've seen here are from people that really wouldn't do well here anyway so they were probably trying to get rid of them. Great company, great culture. Really happy I came to work here!

Question 1
How would other look at my career switch from being a security guard and a Barista to working for New York Life Insurance as a Financial Sales Representative?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at New York Life (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2015
Interview
Pretty easy, these guys will hire just about anyone who pass their in house questionnaire. They are selling you on how your going to make tons of money at the firm. So, they're strategy is to sell the people they bring in for an interview. They sell you on how much money your going to make and the impact within the community you will make. How you will run your own business, but not be able to take your book of business to other firms and how the require you to sit at 2 meetings a week that are mandatory and you dont get paid for them, in fact with transportation you will pay to go to the meetings. I didnt interview, I was sold.
