Interview
I applied for an internal Business Analyst role at Hays in their Sydney office. Despite covid, they required me to come into the office for this interview. I obliged and took a day off in my current job (had it been a video interview i wouldn't have to take an entire day off). I did the interview and it wasn't the hardest interview that I had done but i wasn't 100% positive in getting this role following the interview. They asked me standard questions and explained the role a bit. What was interesting was that the interviewer had given me a 2 minute spiel about how Hays hires on diversity and doesn't discriminate which has never been mentioned to me in an interview before. Concluding the interview they advised they'd get back to me by Monday (this was on a Friday)
I sent an email later that afternoon thanking them and by the next Wednesday i still hadn't heard anything. I then sent another email asking for an update and nothing. I then sent the HR recruiter a text but no response.
Two weeks after the interview i decide to call the HR recruiter directly on her landline and i was finally able to reach her. She advised that while i looked good on paper I wasn't the best candidate. I was only able to give one example for agile consulting (when in fact i actually provided 4) and she couldn't give me a reasonable explanation as to why they hadn't contacted me after the interview.
What i found appalling is how they treat their candidates. They made me come into the office during restrictions (for an interview that could have clearly been done over video) to then only leave me in the blue. Not a good impression.
