Friendly, but no transparency. I immediately doubted the process when applicants were grouped together for an interview. The interviewer was friendly but I had the impression that certain candidates had already been chosen (even though the interviewer claimed there was no competition between the candidates). When another interviewer asked frank questions about how much work tutors receive on the platform the interviewer seemed surprised/taken aback.
When my application was passed over the next day there was no context, no explanation given. I understand this is standard fare but this contradicted the mood of the interview.
When I asked about an opportunity to apply again in the future, the response was extremely rude. They said "nothing personal but we were not convinced you are a fit for our platform"
"Nothing personal" is always personal this confirms to me that decisions had already been made prior to the interview or that the team carries prejudice in their process.
I am happy that others have had success with the platform, but the whole episode felt extremely condescending. It's possible that this was just one bad experience.
