I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Crossover for Work (Tel Aviv) in Nov 2018
Interview
The online recriting process was very fast, until I reached interview stage.
Then I had:
interview with the CEO
interview with a peer
- 6 week no response
interview with the CEO
preparation of a strategic presentation for a telco operator
interview with the CEO and a sales person
- then 2 references were asked to be interviewed
interview with a potential peer
The whole process took from July, 5 until November, 15.
I was informed, after managing it to the first interview that only two out of 360 reached that stage.
So the promise that 2% of the best in the process a hired is nothing else but hot air.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
You are having discussions with the Chief Marketing Officer of a Tier 3 wireless carrier based in India. The wireless carrier currently has 15 million subscribers and the Chief Marketing Officer would like to increase its subscriber base by 5 million subscribers over the next 2 years. What type of market information would you want to know before making a recommendation? After gathering that information, what are potential recommendations you would advise?
There are two parts of Crossover. One is a regular offshoring, they hire underpaid developers in third-world countries, put spyware on their PC and force them to work long hours for peanuts. This is well known and I don't think anyone applies to Crossover anymore, unless they are fresh grads from Salvador or something.
But there is another part, which is far more funny! They find you and offer a position with a made-up title (SVP of technical something) and insane salary ($200 / hour!) - note that their recruiters are also underpaid slaves from third-world countries and they have their quota to fill or get fired, so they are very insistent.
As a part of application you have to pass a technical quiz, make some presentations, videotape yourself talking etc. Don't worry about this part. When you put it on a cloud drive, turn on tracking and you'll notice that nobody even opens your video or presentation.
If you do your technical quiz well, they'll try bait and switch - fail you quickly and offer a low-paid technical position. If they don't think they can switch you, you'll just become a number in their list of "top talents" they show to investors when they raise money to acquire one more dying software company.
Don't waste your time. There is no job.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe some important technical decision you made
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Crossover for Work in Oct 2018
Interview
I am writing a full article about the fake remote hiring companies and after a very
Short search I managed to get short list of companies that has a really awful reputation
And Crossover was the first on the list so I applied to them first and I choose the database
engineer title because I am an oracle solution architect and developer for over 15 years so
I have more than enough experience and knowledge to judge and review the hiring process.
Everything started with an email from the Success Agent-nice title, right !?!- who told me how great I am and that because I am so 'great' I've been shortlisted for the title, just less than 24
hours after application WOW!
So I was invited to a hiring event and even got many emails reminders asking me confirm my attendance to this very very important event !
Then came the promised day! The event day, what a show... the event was don via Zoom
And the host was from Philippine who knew nothing about the title we were applying to
After a very 'armatures' introduction he invited the main speaker who happened to be the
Vice president of the company, Mr vice whatever told us about the great company Crossover
And claimed that they acquired many software companies and turned them into successful
Business -he never mentioned any of these lucky companies!- The event was suppose to be
3 hours long but after 25 minutes the host told that we can leave!
I was asked to start the online testing and interview process and so I did.
First I toke a 50 question IQ test -it's not a real professional IQ test but looks like one-
Then the asked for my resume via link on my google drive, then an 2-3 minutes of audio recording of me talking my self in English after that a 20 question technical test and finally
a 'written test' that included a 4 parts 3 of which are technical questions and the 4th one
Is a multi part project that requires coding and problem solving... looks really professional?!
No its not but it's designed to make you think it is!
Anyway I finished all of the steps and I wrote real complete answers, then I waited ...
3 days later I got an email telling me that I was not accepted for the job, just like everyone
Else who tried to apply for any job at Crossover!
So why Am I sure that it's all FAKE? Because I have an official report from Google Support
That none of my project files that they asked us to upload on google drive and share it via a link
Nor the audio file not even the resume have been opened or accessed by anyone but me from
The moment I uploaded them up to the moment I got the refusal mail from Crossover!
So no resume, no test projects no English audio test was nothing has been reviewed by Crossover but yet they manged to decide that I am not a good fit for the title!
Cross over is a fake company that uses people to generate traffic ...
I will publish my article with video recording of the hiring event and a full list of the questions
and answers and screen caps of the entire process ...
DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS COMPANY!!
