Pros

Great when the company started out At first ability to move up was there Great discount Ok benefits but could be better They finally are getting better with their buying strategy and turn around based on trend.

Cons

There is seriously no reason why anyone who actually would like to progress in their retail career should work for this company The new process of NOT internally promoting their staff is simply because they fired all their training and educational employees at home office because they were cutting expenses. They just went thought a huge DEMOTION of all upper management this past few months which means they can't afford to pay all these people. Money pit. They will not invest their time in you anymore A district visit consists of your district manager, who is clueless because they were not trained properly, stopping by for an hour or two and doing your shipment. Great thanks for being my overpaid stock room associate. No sick days for manager No PTO for full time assistants PTO restrictions are silly They decide the week of what seasonal visuals should be arranged and due. No hours allocated for this. They over stock/under stock your store based on selling which makes sense when you think about it but get upset when you can't place your product in their 1000 sq ft store because you have NO room. So many issues and I can only hope that the company that I fell in love with in 2010 comes back because this company has taken a huge turn down a long long road for recovery. My advise to anyone who wants a part time job with some serious freedom and they don't mind that inconsistencies then take a low paying job here as an associate (Ps you can make way more else where), but if you want to do this for a career then don't bother. You will never gain the necessary experience to move on to a better paying and high level position.

Pros

Visual Merchandising freedom Cool place to buy gifts for people Small store, so less to clean up at the end of the night.

Cons

Where do I even begin... For starters, the company itself has a process called the "MOS" process. In this process, employees and management are instructed to scan perfectly good merchandise (clothing, jewelry, etc) into the system, and then PHYSICALLY DESTROY IT AND THROW IT AWAY. Even when asked by MULTIPLE, MULTIPLE, MULTIPLE employees and management to consider donating the merchandise, they ignore the suggestions (mine was written off with a simple "we appreciate your feedback"), and respond in a COMPANY-WIDE memo stating in bolded letters that "we will NOT be donating this merchandise, all merchandise MUST be destroyed". This most recent MOS? Perfectly good and warm winter coats, scarves, hats, and gloves. Millions will freeze to death this winter, but Francesca's is willing to throw away perfectly warm clothing. It sickens me. Secondly, the company has no organizational skills. They will send an email out to stores at noon on a business day informing them that there are new promotions that need to be set up immediately, so we are expected to balance setting up new promotions, customer service, and any other tasks they may have sent out at the same time. The company also refuses to set aside time after hours for things like visuals, merchandising, and large shipment tasks. Most other stores I know do most of their visual/floor sets after closing or before opening, but not Francesca's! They will make you move around tables and IGNORE customers (practically) while the store is open.

Pros

Slow pace a lot of free time.

Cons

Low paying job for an assistant manager position. A lot of locations including the location that I work at are NOT diverse, all white I was the only hispanic American working there. Store Manager did everything when it came to operational and visual aspects of the store which was very annoying because I was the Assistant Manager but I felt like I was an associate with an "ABM" title. With previous experience in retail management and working full time in those positions I’ve always gotten 40hrs but with Francesca’s I was only getting 30-34hrs. The SM was very close to some of the associates in the store and constantly talked bad/gossiped about the other people working there. Dress code is NO JEANS, dresses, skirts (knee length) or colored pants. I feel like for the brand the dress code was ridiculous. There is no room for growing with the company. Because this company is still growing a lot of their practices are very “old school” overall if you want to be an associate it’s a great part time job but if you are looking for an assistant manager position I wouldn’t recommend it.
