Pros

You need not adapt if you are coming from a services based background as you will be treated as an external. Some Data Engineering teams are doing good work and worth learning.

Cons

Management is not at all there when you talk about DNA department. The Directors of Data Engineering Teams, especially those who are from the SAP background or have been converted from infosys don’t know anything when asked question but will show the authority as they are the Prime Ministers. People sitting in Herzo and Amsterdam consider themselves client and you as the service provider and they don’t have a way of talking. Data Engineering Directors of few Engineering Teams like marketing team and sales team will ensure that toxicity keeps prevailing as these people are puppets to the Product Owners and speak the same language as the POs. There is no scope of growth especially for those joining gurgaon office. All you will feel is the future is dark. You would be promised 15% variable but they don’t pay it stating the org is facing losses. While they promise these when hiring new people in the same financial year. PS. Still If you are joining ensure you are not joining the Consumer and Marketing Team or the DTC Team. Other teams are still better. Directors of these two teams are puppets and know nothing and are responsible for toxicity

Pros

Some nice welcoming colleagues and benefits (Meal Ticket and Christmas Hamper)

Cons

Really poor culture and collaboration spirit, while there are some nice colleagues, rudeness and arrogance seem to prevail in some departments and people (and it is surprisingly true for some vendors as well, I reckon as they seem to fit in the culture, they thrive). Expect to be criticized in public and praised in private (I meant it) and join endless sapping energy meetings along the days, since it is a meeting driven company. These meetings usually have a strange dynamic, where sometimes out of more than 20~30 participants, no more than around 5 open their mouth. IT department and facility are also worth mentioning in this sense. Should you ever work there, hope you never need them or you'd better solve the problems yourself. There are few competent managers and directors who truly try to improve things there, but many are completely unprepared, sometimes biased by relationships and views and most of the time it seems that things are shouting prioritized. Not to mention that some managers have a very old fashioned style of management. Dont be surprised with people making fan of accents, cultural jokes, etc, specially if they come from the HQ. Despite the beautiful values and vision (3Cs, through sport we have the power to change lives, etc), don't expect to find them in your daily basis and they are in general no more than words. From systems perspective, if you are told there are few huge legacy monoliths and they are already being decomposed or replaced by an updated stack, don't buy that. A last point worth mentioning is that Adidas is a very bureaucratic traditional German company (although along the recruitment process you are told the contrary). Therefore if you enjoy dynamic, fast paced places with a certain level of autonomy, it might not be your cup of tea. If you are relocating from abroad, watch out and think well since you will be locked in for 1.5 years. P.s. this review is based on the department I worked for, but talking to colleagues the complaints are pretty much the same, apart from one or two departments (maybe you are lucky and can fall in one these two)

Pros

50% off employee discount Half day Fridays during summer

Cons

The worse management you can think of.. they all got a job at adidas HQ in Portland! If you plan on relocating to Portland for adidas, do not make the same mistake I did! The management is arrogant and want the employees around them, to praise them, nod their heads and “wow” at their stupid ideas. They all want to show off how “powerful” they are by bossing and humiliating people around. Very few decent people - I feel sorry for them.
