Pros

The culture is what makes TransferWise. Great people who truly believe in the mission and a team that's enabled to execute with very few barriers (what we call autonomous teams). The business's ambition + the ability to impact give a strong sense of empowerment and the engagement levels are unmatched. Your career at TransferWise is truly what you make of it, the culture and structure within the business enable this to an extent that I have not seen elsewhere.

Cons

It can be overwhelming and chaotic at times, but what do you expect from a (very) fast growing business? There's a lack of process in some areas and your impact can be determined by your ability to understand how things get done within this environment. However this also gives a lot of flexibility/autonomy once you've figured this out.

The Best Company Ever. Fact.

Pros

TransferWise is a magnificent company to work for, primarily because of the incredible people you work with. The culture instilled in everyone from day one is one of co-operation, kindness and never-say-die enthusiasm. If you're having a tough day, there will always be someone to help you out, pick you up and make you smile. The work itself can be demanding, and challenging, and things can change at an almost hourly rate, but the feeling of leaving someone satisfied with your service and keeping the reputation up is incredibly gratifying. They'll also support anything that the employees are passionate about, and put on brilliant team events regularly. It's just awesome.

Cons

As with any customer support role, there are moments when you question the intelligence and future of humanity, but that's not the company's fault. The main criticism is that there is no tiered pay system for loyal employees, which means the best CS staff often move to other departments as soon as possible looking for a pay increase. There's also the attraction of a new challenge, but you can't help feel that if there was an incentive to stay in CS then more people would. Beyond that, the ever changing playing field isn't for everyone, and you need to be quick thinking and great at adapting to work here, which can be tough and people get found out quickly if they're not.
