Hit or Miss - Engineering, at least

Pros

> You can find a great set of friends among the people who work there. > There are snacks... a lot of options but not really diverse, and if you have any dietary needs, the options are much more limited. If there's an allergy though, they do a very good job keeping people safe. > There's an initial promise of growth within the company or the very least the department. > There are ways to network officially through sponsored work events and unofficially through interest groups that people start - people play intramural sports and boardgames, they bond over music genres, they enjoy the same kind of pets... the list goes on. > 401k matching is solid.

Cons

> I had worked there for a long time, but was let go earlier this year. The reasons given were fairly flimsy. When I asked why there was no warning period, HR along with my managers said that providing that probationary period was not required. This may be true since almost all employees are at-will, but one would hope that after the length of tenure there would be some more transparency. That *is* one of the company tenets. > Pay - like many have said here on GD - is way under market. > The healthcare provider, at least while I was there, was not bad overall. But if you found yourself in need of mental health benefits, be aware that a lot of mental health providers do not accept that insurance. This sucks when you're feeling crushed emotionally/are miserable due to the work climate, but can't access any help with treatment. > Was it sexist? Not overtly. In engineering there was a pretty fair distribution of women in the workforce at large, but leadership only had a scant few. It's very much a boys' club. I frequently saw opportunities handed to men where they could grow quickly in their role, but not so much with women.

What a joke of a Company!

Pros

Fatty dry snacks, some fruits if you can get to them and tons of company parties to disguise as if you are still in college to keep you coming back at a low wage.

Cons

I can only speak from the B2B area of the company - THEY HAVE NO CLUE!!!! pay wages are way below market value and they expect you to take a pay cut as if they are the New England Patriots; sales team aren't really sales team they are just customer service teams; people complain about EVERYTHING; Sales Directors well they don't know better; sales managers, some have the right attitude but they don't know better; this company hires young inexperience because they'll take low pay, answer the phone, and go with the flow; sales plans are non existent because they don't even know how to come up with an actual quota and you are always working blind with no goals; this is a 9-5 because people don't chase the sale but for some reason people come in at 9:30ish and leave either at 5 on the dot like factories or are already gone by 3:30 because there are so many people no one keeps tracks. People will throw you under the bus just because its fun with no reason behind it. If you think for one second you are coming into the cult like environment to make changes or influence change they will LET YOU GO!!! Your ideas mean absolutely NOTHING!!!! HR will sell you a dream and I urge you to not buy into it or you'll be left to realize it on your own. And if you don't kiss that butt, Good luck...as for stock options they'll tell you that it's part of your current salary (which is not because it's not guaranteed)...Honestly, don't work there because you may think its cool because you are only setting yourself up for disappointment, I've seen so many layoffs of many talented people simply because they did not know how to channel that incredible talent.

Pros

- My coworkers..great, kind, smart, and supportive group of people. - the young culture - good location in Boston (next to Back Bay and Copley Square)

Cons

- Obviously salary.. it could have gotten better with the Overtime Law because they said they would increase our base salary, but then they took that away when the law was put on hold. In addition, they literally announced it to us the day it was going into affect..some people even heard it 1 day after. - Upper management are clueless in managing and the actual work that we do. - I used to love this job because I saw a career and valuable skills in it, but ever since the MULTIPLE reorgs/ department changes in the past year, I've grown to hate my job. Majority of my workers feel the same way and we are all planning to leave soon.
