Where we're going, we don't need roads (except for Freight & Logistics)
Pros
-Young, creative and intelligent talent across the board -Work hard, play hard mentality -The e-commerce market and demographic that they have honed in on has an incredible amount of untapped potential -The business to business department has more than quadrupled (both revenue and headcount) in less than two years -It came off as a bit cliche at first, but from day one the mentality they preached was, "we are never done." After about two years I know that the senior leadership firmly believes this and tries to instill the same philosophy in every new hire. -Feedback and constructive criticism is not only encouraged and heard-out but is usually implemented; it gives a sense of ownership and confidence that the company is always looking to improve. -All of the above leads to a pervasive sense of purpose: Wayfair is going to succeed and individuals with the opportunity and work ethic to belong here will as well.
Cons
-Very high turnover rate -Low starting salary -The amount of change can be a bit overwhelming but provides great insight into the development of a company that still, by the leaders' own acknowledgement, has so far to go. -Since so much of the software is in-house, the tendency is to implement things before they are perfected. All bugs and tech issues are taken care of as quickly as possible but running into problems like that will happen eventually.
