Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback and I’m sorry that you had a poor experience at Wayfair. Our Engineering team has grown tenfold over the last five years, and we are still growing very quickly! As we scale, there have been hurdles along the way, but we always try to keep our employees engaged, challenged and aware of all the open roles and opportunities on the team. We want our engineers to feel comfortable raising their hands and taking on new things, and I hope we continue to push this point.
A couple of the other topics you mention are ones the Engineering department has worked steadily to improve over the past couple of years. Work/life balance is something we encourage, with flexibility in working hours and competitive time off. While I’m encouraged by the progress we’ve made, I’m sorry we weren’t able to address them for you. Collaboration is also very important to us – many of our software teams work in cross-functional groups and are encouraged to speak up with questions or concerns – and while it’s tough to get that exactly right at a large organization, we encourage our employees to speak up when we’re not doing it as best as we could so we can continuously improve.
