Pros

Wal-Mart has competitive pay for this field of work and advancement is easy as long as you are willing to work for it. i also enjoy having a choice in where i want to work in the store.

Cons

management can be a real pain, but it is really store Dependant. sometimes it feels like they are working against employees, where as other times they will fight right along side you. at my store, they tend to shave 3-4 hours off(weekly) in the months approaching inventory. If you live in the Washington state, about all your employee discount will cover is sales tax.

Pros

They offer employees a 10% discount on merchandise and allow employee health plan subscribers to purchase subscriptions for $5. There is also a modest profit sharing plan and a bonus based on 'shrink' numbers (that is how the real inventory of the store compares with what should be there).

Cons

The pay is low across all functional areas, although the sales floor and checkouts are the worst. Store managers receive a bonus based on store performance (profitability), but hourly 'associates' do not. Most assistant managers are ambivalent because of their own low pay and long hours, thus are not very good at motivating others.

Pros

Competitive pay and bonus potential. Busy environment, fast-paced. Always changing.

Cons

Lacking in communication with all levels and providing feedback. Too much opportunity for conflict among ranks and favoritism. Sometimes a very negative work environment. I saw too many double standards where the excessively numurous policies became tools to carry out personal agendas.
