Pros

Pizza parties instead of pay raises...

Cons

Underpaid, undervalued, talk about diversity but it is just to keep with the Jones versus actually doing it. Big company and easy to get lost in the mix. Never work in a service center, they will always strive to pay you as little as possible, no upward mobility, and get ready for 1-2% raises and laughable bonuses. Rotating door of colleagues because people see through the BS rather quickly. As a result, get ready for the frustrations of new colleagues that need to learn SOPs from scratch. Only got offered the opportunity of a promotion after resigning. Retail offices have more opportunity, but it all depends on who you report to. AON merger was a disaster—massive brain drain, battlefield promotions for the people who got left behind when others jumped ship and didn’t invite them. (They weren’t invited for good reason and now they are running the show) Upper management explained that the merger would be great for the world, innovation, BS BS BS—the DOJ said the exact opposite. The ivory tower management were just in it to line their own pockets and get golden parachutes. AON was happy to pay $1B termination fee after putting WTW through the ringer.

Pros

Pay is within or even above industy standards, lots of allowances, yearly appraisal, good work-life balance, retirement benefits, and company-wide events. Progressive work culture. Promotes diversity and inclusivity. Also has a good mentorship culture. Tenured employees are helpful and put effort to acclimate newer employees on the processes. Lots of training, virtual classes, and knowledge repositories for employees looking to upskill.

Cons

Work efficiency is rewarded with more work Management is too complacent to notice discontent among employees in the department

Pros

Clients there are good to work with.

Cons

The US leadership group that was brought in approximately 3 years ago has really damaged the business. Morale in the investment group is terrible and the turnover rate is extremely high. The business no longer values investment acumen; it has become a widget factory for investment consulting, where functions are broken down into small areas of focus, and the service is viewed as a process of interchangeable parts and roles, and clients get cookie cutter portfolios and advice. It’s don’t think, do your job, and be quiet. As long as the current management team is in place, they will continue to bleed people. Associates here do not really gain any “real” investment skills here. It’s really just glorified project management. Manager research function is very weak, despite a large number of people. They are very closed to having conversations with managers and having a broad Knowledge base. If you want a real investment career where investment knowledge and experience is valued and you get to develop real investment skills, you should probably look somewhere else. You’ll be a project manager at WTW, not much else.
