Pros

You get free stuff, so every time the company launches a new product, whether it's a bra or a new body product, you will usually get it for free. They do this so that you, as the associate, can try out the new product, and give feedback to either the company and/ or customers. The job is fairly easy, but it can get boring at times because there's not much to do and it's easy. In general, there's a good atmosphere. Customers that come into Victoria's Secret are often friendlier than customers you would find at K-Mart or other places.

Cons

You have to push the store credit card. A lot of customers come in wanting to just look around and not be bothered, so when you ask then if they want to apply for a credit card, the answer is almost always 'no.' But the company, and most definitely your managers, keep telling you to "sell credit!" So there have been times when a customer probably would have bought something but they left the store angry because I tried to get them to sign up for a credit card, or simply asked them if they needed help with anything. And a lot of gossip goes on between managers and even associates.

Pros

If you are willing to learn about bras and panties and really pay attention to detail, this can be a great opportunity for you to grow and develop your sales abilities. This store is a lot more complex than most retail stores (i.e. you have to make sure you consistently complete all of your duties, meet sales goals, etc.). One of the best benefits of working at Victoria's Secret is that you get "gratises" every time a new product comes out (free/discounted item when it is first introduced).

Cons

The employees are not paid very much in general, and it takes forever to advance at the company.

Pros

The discounts on merchandise aren't bad (20-30 percent depending on your seniority). If you love to work and you don't have much of a home life (or your home life is especially unpleasant and you're trying to escape), this might be the job for you. Girls who are willing to work extremely long hours and have completely open availability do have opportunities to move up in the company, but CSL is about as high as most will be able to rise.

Cons

Not much consideration of their employees, combined with an extremely high turnover rate. "On call" shifts are scheduled back to back with normal ones, meaning employees often end up working an 8-4 shift followed immediately by a 4:00-8:00 shift with a break just long enough to sign out and back in between (the signing out means they aren't required to pay overtime) Breaks are short and they're often "forgotten" or ignored anyway. Hours are based on how many Angel Card (credit cards) an employee can sell in a shift. Employees are instructed to do "anything it takes" to get customers to sign up for one. Employees who have difficulty with this or who fail to meet their goal for the day are disciplined and punished. The high turnover rate means management feels that every employee is easily replaceable, and makes sure they know this. It isn't uncommon for management to dress down employees for their speed, efficiency, outfit choices or anything else over the headset, so that all the others can hear it.
