Pros

Product is definitely a must for any company

Cons

Management, Management, Management, Management and ....Management. If you enjoy being asked for your opinions and then told why it is wrong and why managements is right then this is the place for you. If you enjoy taking initiative and working hard for your management to swat you down and tell you you failed without providing any justification or guidelines to follow then this is the place for you. If you like to feel under appreciated over worked and micromanaged then this is the place for you. If you enjoy being tested and retested for "certifications" that you have completed over and over again to "prove" to management that you know what you are doing even though you have been working at their highest level of Support for years then you are at the right place. If you decide that you are sick of that treatment and try to move to another area of the company only to find out that senior management went behind your back to stop the process so they can keep a warm chair then you are in the right place. If you have even a shred of self worth or self respect then I suggest you run for the hills because this is not the company to work for.

Pros

Benefits/fringe perks Good salary Cool office although that can also be a huge distraction

Cons

They try to control your development completely. You can only develop in the way they see you. For example try to push engineers into management even though they are clear they don’t want that. I’m my case they took away my position and gave it to someone else from another department, all the while saying it was not because my team or I had done anything wrong. They also hired a bunch of junior people on my team and then removed all the more senior folks. Again not because we did something wrong, just because this was what they felt they had to do. In return they offered me a position with completely different terms than my previous job and gave me a deadline by which I had to accept. I wasn’t super keen on taking an unearned, forced demotion so I took the 2nd option, which was to leave. It wasn’t pretty to say the least. After leaving all of a sudden there were mysterious issues with health insurance claims that had occurred while I still worked there, basically they were trying to screw me over financially by messing with the insurance coverage dates. All because I quit mind you, they were clear the whole ordeal that I hadn’t done anything to deserve the job change. They weren’t able to get away with it as I caught it quickly and dealt with it myself. I worked there over 6 years in multiple teams and positions. I was nothing but loyal and super dedicated and this is what I got in return. Honestly I’m so glad it’s all over, even though I’m currently unemployed because of the pandemic. I kind of pity the HR and management teams there because they seem so disillusioned and trapped in the toxic culture they inhabit. From what I’ve heard from multiple individuals since leaving, word on the street is that Varonis is a shell of its former self and it’s just not the same company anymore. I was foolishly loyal for a long time and couldn’t see the writing on the wall but now I have to say I agree.

Pros

Product is good, some smart engineers.

Cons

If you plan to work here in sales get ready to be treated like an entry level sales rep even if you have years of experience. Tons of mindless busy work to report metrics to your higher ups so they can do the same. You’ll spend more time talking about deals than selling them. It’s a revolving door for new reps hoping they generate enough pipeline to pass on to the veterans when they leave or get pushed out. I’ve seen reviews calling Companies like the “hunger games” movies; this is more like “a handmaid’s tale” - if you’re in sales, you’re the handmaid. If you’re thinking of accepting an offer from them, go on LinkedIn and reach out to some of the endless folks who spent short periods of time here. Seriously you’ll thank yourself later.
