Pros

Good Health Insurance scheme Good pension scheme after 6 months employment

Cons

If you are not in "the click" you will not be promoted. Extremely long hours when working on projects. Unrealistic timelines and no support from management when timelines cannot be met. No thanks for getting a project across the line, just move to the next and still support manufacturing on the old. Very stressful job.

Pros

Decent wages (I got over €15 an hour on the night shift) Lots of overtime if you wanted it Great co-workers, the higher ups were not the nicest, but the other production staff know how hard everyone is working so there is a very real and strong sense of comradery.

Cons

For almost all production jobs you have to stand all shift save for breaks Like any production job they are target obsessed which can be stressful There are not enough technicians and operators are often resented for machines breaking down to no fault of their own, yet ironically operators are not allowed to fix problems as simple as replacing the paper in a printer for which you must a technician who is not only over qualified, but far too busy for such jobs.

Pros

Good pay. Great 401(k) package. Looks good on a resume. International experience nearly guaranteed for industrial. Exposure to lots of people and cultures. If you don't want to put in a lot of overtime and don't care about satisfaction or promotion, engineering here is great!

Cons

If you aren't best buds with upper management, you won't be promoted or get to do anything interesting. No incentive for good work, no punishment for bad. "Fireman" style of management means that everyone runs around like madmen and nothing gets done. Improvement is highly discouraged. Planning is highly discouraged. Measured temps on the line regularly reach 110 F. Anything that needs purchased will require at least 3 signatures, purchasing is a pain. Don't expect your stuff to arrive on time. Corporate culture needs some serious adjustment. With a really, really, really big hammer. Preaching about standards when none actually exist, are followed, or are written anywhere.
