Pros
In my almost 6 year career, I have been able to grow from being an assistant manager at one of our mountain locations in CA, to acquiring the skills needed for a career path in Business Information Data. Each step of the way, I was challenged but could pursue all of the development that I wanted by asking for mentorship, taking leadership classes offered and my manager's allowing me to be involved in optimization projects that opened up my network of contacts. Though much of the development was owned by me, my managers have been there to guide and direct whenever needed. The company also offers an entire leadership series of classes that you do not need to be on a direct career path to a leadership role in order to participate. The ski pass and discounted tickets for friends and family is a huge benefit, as well as the health benefits are competitive. There is also a great culture of work/life balance. We do work extremely hard, but there is no issue with asking for time off (it is flexible time off- so you do not have to wait to accrue a balance), if you are getting things accomplished. I also love our EpicService/EpicPromise program. Vail goes beyond it's words and puts actions to sustainability.
Cons
Like any large company, it can be difficult working in a matrix-ed environment. There can be inconsistency in what managers are doing/can do for their employees.
