We appreciate your candid feedback about your experience within our company. We agree that the pass and iconic locations are a huge perk to working for Vail Resorts. However, those same locations can be barriers within a large organization as well as having consistent managing practices across the enterprise. Our Company has made steps to increase the effectiveness of our leaders at all levels throughout Vail Resorts with leadership essentials programs that emphasize communication, managing expectations, understanding team dynamics, delivering performance feedback and developing talent on his/her team for all of our managers to participate in. Vail Resorts has also been utilizing an enterprise wide anonymous survey for the past few years that allow all employees to give the candid feedback that you have in a safe forum, which then we can see management wins and misses to take action on. Thank you again for taking the time to express your thoughts on your experience.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on Glassdoor. We agree that one of the best things about working for Vail Resorts is the free ski pass (for you and your family members) and getting to work and live in beautiful locations, like South Lake Tahoe. Our leadership team is constantly reviewing how we can better retain talent at all levels; which includes reviewing compensation and development opportunities within the roles. Development is a focus of our leadership team and because of this, we have seen new programs created to develop talent from within Vail Resorts. We have also created a goal for ourselves to have a higher internal promotion rate, rather than searching for talent outside the company. One of the aspects of Vail Resorts that we love is because we own and operate 11 different mountains and have our headquarters near Boulder, CO, there are so many opportunities that may not be known at first, but with a little research you can find a variety of positions that you may have never thought of previously and movement within the company is encouraged. Enjoy the remainder of your winter!

Thank you for posting your review! We agree that there are some challenges by having a transient staff and part of that is the nature of the business. Vail Resorts has been making a large effort to empower our employees to own their development and encourage the employees to find his/her long term position. Some of the resources offered are ‘Leadership Development classes – open to all employee levels, webinars and local learning series for all types of soft and hard skills as well as the access to Mentor and Connections programs. Through many of these programs we have seen the successful placement of employees from a seasonal position to a year round role. We are currently working on compiling many of these success stories to be published on our jobs website, so you will be able to see the path that some employee’s chose to take and hopefully it will lend insight into those searching how to find their long term placement. Thank you for all that you do and sticking it out with us!
