Pros

Talented people to work with, good opportunities to learn, international exposure. Great variety in work, every day is different.

Cons

Poor work-life balance, too much work for the time available, evening and weekend working a fact for many. Long winded decision processes, slow or inadequate IT tools, only senior management levels get focus for career development. No opportunity to share learnings so everyone has to find their own way. Hard as mid career recruit to have previous experience recognised/ appreciated.

Pros

Great benefits & compensation package. Strong brands. Emphasis on teams.

Cons

Bureaucracy. Sloth culture- nothing gets done. Decisions made that are counter to growth and common sense. Not sure this division of the company will exist in 18-24 months. Rumors abound that Unilever is exiting the food business and selling off the brands. Roadblocks to successfully winning business make it more attractive to hang in the home office than pursue customers. And seriously, with a portfolio of over 500 items, why would they limit what we can sell based upon our job title? Recent structural changes are disconcerting and morale is lower than Ive seen in more than 15 years.

Pros

Global company, you own managing the brand from day 1 and you make recommendations that you can see in practice immediately

Cons

NO WORK-LIFE BALANCE, especially in the personal care categories. You are expected to work constantly and there is no such thing as vacation or sick time. Takes 4-5 years to be promoted when after 2-3 years, almost all ABMs are ready to be managers. Major disconnect between Global and Regional teams
