Pros

Some people feel it is a fun work environment, especially if you are working at the airport. There are a lot of part time positions so to make a little extra money and work around airplanes and in a bustling place, often with great coworkers is certainly a pro for some folks. On the corporate side there are also some great people at this company. There is also a ton of potential and if you stick around and build relationships with the right people there probably many opportunities to move into different positions or departments. When reading positive reviews be mindful I suppose of where those people work and their role because experiences certainly may vary.

Cons

The entire company is disjointed. Nothing runs smoothly and departments contradict each other, the department you are in will certainly shape your view of the company because departments function almost like completely separate companies the way they have different benefits/policies/cultures. The operations side of the business and corporate side of the business are not aligned. They have outsourced a lot of work to agencies outside of the US and have people who barely speak English doing jobs and unfortunately not doing them well. Pay across the board is below market standards and benefits are poor. Don't let them sell you on flight benefits, they are worthless. There is literally no reason to work here, Delta is across the street with better benefits and so many well known companies in Atlanta are paying much more. The managers and VP's are also not very friendly. The HR department is just rude and unhelpful if I am being honest. Recruiters do an amazing job selling you on opportunity and flexibility but in reality almost anywhere would be a better place to work. It's also really common to be hired for one job and then when you start work they switch things up so much and have you doing all kinds of extra work or completely unrelated projects. Retention here is also terrible, worst I have ever seen anywhere and I think that just speaks for itself. Most people here have either a neutral or negative view on the company. I genuinely feel bad when I see new people start here and that's why I felt compelled to leave a review. This isn't a place where you will happily work and build a career.

Working at DGS

Pros

Flight benefits are by far the best part of the job. Co-workers are great to work with.

Cons

DGS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta. The idea is that Delta puts all of their low end replaceable employees in DGS and has the others employed directly by Delta. When you come to realize this it is very demoralizing and hard to stay excited about the job. The HR department at DGS is run very poorly. We didn't get manuals and rules and procedures are hard to find online. They give you no training and very little help on accessing employment benefits such as insurance and flight benefits. You have to ask your co-workers. I have had several instances where checks were not direct deposited so checks had to be hand delivered or fedexed. Most likely your manager will be employed by Delta. I get the feeling they look at us as though we are expendable. No need to give raises or grant other requests because their are hundreds of people waiting behind me for this job. This is reinforced by the fact that DGS employees get stand by benefits at a lower priority than mainline Delta. I was recently using my benefits when a pilot who had been employed by Delta for only a few months listed for a flight only an hour before takeoff. He also listed his wife and four kids. Even though I had worked at DGS for years, his family got on the flight and I didn't because he is a higher class employee than me. You do get health insurance but DGS doesn't pay any portion of the premium for you, unlike mainline employees. Unlike mainline Delta employees we do not get any profit sharing.
