Pros

Pay is good, benefits are great! Overall consistent with other retail positions.

Cons

If your in management, hard work and loyalty doesn't mean much. It's clear it is a popularity contest.

Pros

Awesome gratis for products (freebies). Learned some really amazing cosmetic skills.

Cons

Too much work for the wages. 50 hours worth of work every week with only 40 hours to do it. Was required to work off the clock on many occasions. Managers are required to run a register for way to many shifts due to lack of hours to schedule cashiers. Was at times an amazingly over paid cashier. Also the DM in the Orlando area is a total beast. She doesn't communicate with the managers and is quite condescending even at one point told two store managers that they were basically second class citizens because we were only "retail managers". Way to often projects were given priority over customer service.

Pros

In my opinion you receive a great discount. 25% off on everything in the store and 50% off salon services. I love giving out the "GWP's" because I like seeing how happy it makes the customers. They are ALWAYS giving you something to do so most days dont drag on and on. The ability to test out all the makeup since youre around it all day.

Cons

The biggest con of all is working with a management system thats crap. No one is ever on the same page and if one of the managers doesnt get one of their duties done for the day they pass it on to you and expect it to be done before you leave. There is too much to do and too many places to be with too little staff. Its pathetic. I cant tell you how much I hate telling a guest that Ill be with them in one moment and then have to watch them wonder around for someone to help them because I coudnt get away from the registers. At times there will only be 2 employees in the store. How do they expect us to give great customer service if the employee to customer ratio is 2:25. Management is snooty. It urks me to go to work somedays knowing that some of my coworkers will be favorited over me because of a snooty manager. They expect way to much of us in much too little time. I personally feel like im the best working cashier at my store and I RARELY hear any positive feedback from management on how well im doing. I get a simple "Thank you" at the end of the day and thats it. Training was difficult because we had one day of register training and everyday after that if I had a problem with the registers or was confused I got snooty remarks when I asked for help. The Ulta I work at is very cliquey which can make it difficult to come to work sometimes.
