Unorganized manager, clichy co workers and told I'd get more hours than I actually received
Pros
Flexible hours, flexible hours, make up
Cons
I was told when I was hired I'd be working 15 to 20 hours a week. I was definitely misled when taking this job. Since they had to keep cutting hours there were times when I was only given 5 hours within two weeks. Yet somehow they were able to keep hiring on new girls. When I was hired it was two months from the interview date, that should have been my first red flag. Some of the floor managers were very rude to me. The "manager's" had to overlook everything I did and my boss was basically incompetent. How she became a manager I'll never know. While moving bags around for her the way she wanted she had an issue with which ones I moved around first. Talk about a ditz. I had an issue with her when she didn't clearly explain my schedule to me. It was my first week and my schedule was written on a piece of paper because my name wasn't in the system yet. Apparently I was supposed to get my new schedule for the following week that Friday for the coming "work" week. I was out of state that Friday and I thought I was also off on Saturday and Sunday. This is after I already double checked with her by specifically asking if I was only going to be working Monday and Tuesday for the whole week because I was going out of town. To anyone even remotely coherent they realize a week is Monday THROUGH Sunday. This is just one example of how she didn't understand anything. Then she somehow didn't understand why I thought I was off on those days. My store also didn't have a product book or offer any real training besides a few basic common sense videos. I didn't like being searched like a criminal every time I left the store which I've never had to do anywhere else. Also, telling every customer when they are purchasing something that they can get two free magazines is a lie. You can't tell them they will have to start paying for the subscription unless they ask you what's the catch or happen to see it on the flyer you hand them. If I'd known how few hours I'd get and what a generally cold working atmosphere it was overall, I wouldn't have taken the job.
