(RCA) A Dog of a job.

Pros

First off, the pay is really good starting off. Very few places will give you over $16 dollars an hour just starting out with no experience. Also, it's relatively easy to get hired into this job since RCA's are always needed. You will make a LOT of money during the holidays.

Cons

Biggest con is.... RCA's get no benefits. Absolutely nothing.... This job is a paycheck only job. You have to become regular to get any benefits. Making regular takes years and years. Scheduling is out the door with this job. Don't EVER expect to make plans or have any kind of life. The holiday period you will work 6 to 7 days a week. The regulars and other RCA's will call out sick with increased frequency during this time, adding more misery to already stressful time period. Being on call all the time takes it toll. Like I said never make plans on your days off. It's rare I'm not called in. Personally, I would say this job is good experience, but once enough is achieved I would begin to look elsewhere.

Pros

Enjoyable work during the spring and summer months. Good variety of both indoors and outdoors work environment. Other RCAs very friendly.

Cons

Job can be very stressful. Especially during the Christmas season. Management sometimes makes you feel like you are not working fast enough even though you are working nonstop for 12 plus hours a day without taking a break.

Pros

Learn about the entire Manhattan as a carrier

Cons

6 days mandatory work work every holiday no matter what 15.68 salary sometimes working until 10 at night not entitled to benefits until after 1 year no sick leave can be fired at any given moment for no reason you start for 360 day term contract and every 360 days you get fired then possibly rehired if they want you back. so every year you take a 5 day furlough you are not a permanent or "career" employee until after possibly 5-6 years which then you don't have to get fired and rehired every 360 days. which now you receive sick leave hours no you get benefits now you get salary not hourly and then when you get to be career your overtime hours are cut and the temporary position you held before is now being held by someone new who is now taking your overtime hours because paying you overtime may cost USPS $45 per hour as opposed to paying the "CCA" (temp) overtime hours which costs USPS $22.50 per hour
