Pros

Flexible hours That's about it

Cons

Capped at 2 hours a day Isolated from all other tutors Underpaid Students are disrespectful - you're not paid enough to babysit the college students that demand you solve all their problems Unreasonable expectations from management - from the tutoring time limits to the invasions of privacy

Pros

Flexible, Good pay compared to most other tutoring services. Organized payroll. Lots of work during regular school year.

Cons

A lot of overhead you don't get paid for. They send you messages from QC about complaining students that they make you read but don't pay you for. About 10-20% of sessions, have some bug where it tries to connects for a minute than exits. You are waiting but never get paid. Not so much work during low School vacations but that is the same with all tutoring services. . You have to make a schedule irregular hours in EST no matter where you live. It's not integrated with any online calendars making it difficult to track. They have long standing bugs they never fix which make students mad and and make it almost impossible to earn the higher performance bonuses. Company limits tutors to 2 to 3 hours work hours per day if you live in most states because they are afraid of State Labor laws.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Tutors are encouraged to consult the Tutor Resource Center (tutor.com/providers) for current information regarding pay. Additionally, scheduling and hour limitations are dictated by times of high learner demand across subjects, seasonal usage, and tutor locations. We are working to extend scheduling options to the greatest extent possible. We anticipate that the ongoing implementation of our new classroom environment will improve the tech experience for tutors.

Pros

Flexible part time remote work hours. You'll get to meet students from different backgrounds and help them with their needs.

Cons

- Not enough hours on the schedule - Being micromanaged by Quality Specialist for little things. They really make you do a lot for a job that pays close to minimum wage. - Pay is not competitive

Thanks for taking the time to share a review. Scheduling is dictated by times of high learner demand across subjects, and usage is seasonal (tied to the academic year). Additionally, limitations on the number of hours tutors can work vary by location. However, we are actively working to extend scheduling options to the greatest extent possible. We are proud to maintain rigorous quality assurance processes for our tutors, and we take the safety of our learners and the maintenance of high standards for academic support seriously. We know that our tutors do, too, and we are proud to work together to deliver best-in-class learner support. We would love to find out more about your experience. Please contact us at tutorsupport (at) tutor (dot) com. We hope to connect with you soon.
