Pros

Overall great company, Senior Management wants to do the right thing. Majority of people are great work hard for the team success.

Cons

A lot of clicks that focus on self advancement and not team success. Middle managers use positions for personal gain and ensure advancement is given to those within the click. Although preached all the time there is No real work life balance for most unless part of a click.

Pros

You will learn a lot about the industry. A well known, high visibility company. Had some amazing jobs to work on, and some fantastic coworkers..vacation and sick days were not lumped together as " PTO("paid time off" )as is the case with many companies . Quarterly functions to address " state of business unit operations"was well handled as a nice social function/ cocktail party....A perk. some nicely executed social functions helped smooth the edge of being expected to be at company's beck and call at all times.

Cons

The truly excellent and visionary aren't acknowledged... Serious old boy network, and nepotism runs rampant. You can be the best in your field, but if you aren't one of the " favored ones" ... Start looking to move elsewhere because although you won't be fired.... You'll be pigeon-holed and not promoted or compensated as you should be. Very long work hours are the norm and expected without adequate compensation. Frequent late night and weekend work. Bonus structure very unfairly distributed to really only acknowledge field ops.... If you are considered support in any way.... Forget any meaningful bonus. All in all .... Company has a lot of potential not realized

Pros

Exposure to all market verticals within an isolated market. Experience in all facets of construction (i.e. accounting, cost, engineering, design, etc.) Exposure to high level employees and how to deal with senior management at an early stage in your career. If you can stick it out long enough, you will advance within the company. Salary is competitive, if not slightly better than industry standard. Annual cost of living salary increase for just about all employees (minimal but still nice).

Cons

Lack of communication within the organization. Often times senior management makes commitments without communicating to the project staff. Work-life balance is preached as a critical component to success, but rarely is it practiced or accepted. The company was built with a good old boys mentality, so senior management will anoint a "chosen one". If you're it, you can really do no wrong. Promotions based on merit don't really exist. More who you know, then how well you perform. You will need to fight for anything more than a marginal raise. A-type personalities thrive. Generally you are considered "successful" if you can force your will upon someone else (i.e. yelling at a subcontractor).
